Nous vivons dans l’abondance médiatique : informations et divertissements sont accessibles gratuitement sur internet, sans oublier la télévision câblée, la radio numérique, ou encore les journaux gratuits pour pendulaires. Mais ce Pays de Cocagne ressemble de plus en plus à un royaume de fous, régi selon la formule des trois B : «Blut, Brüste, Büsi», qui pourrait se traduire par « du sang, du sexe et des chatons ». Telle est la mise en garde de Matthias Zehnder, journaliste indépendant et spécialiste des médias. L’offre médiatique a beau être gigantesque, un combat sans merci règne entre les annonceurs. Et la règle principale de ce combat est la suivante : plus un média bénéficie d’attention, plus ses recettes publicitaires sont élevées et plus sa survie est assurée.
Eigentlich leben wir im medialen Überfluss: Information und Unterhaltung gibt es gratis im Internet, dazu kommen Kabelfernsehen, Digitalradio, Pendlerzeitungen. Doch dieses Schlaraffenland erweist sich mehr und mehr als Narrenreich voller «Blut, Brüste, Büsi», so die Warnung des freien Publizisten und Medienwissenschaftlers Matthias Zehnder. Das Medienangebot sei zwar gigantisch, doch tobe unter den Anbietern ein gnadenloser Kampf, dessen wichtigste Regel laute: Je mehr Aufmerksamkeit, desto höher die Werbeeinnahmen, die das Überleben sichern.
