We welcome our new member of the Editorial Team: Sina Blassnig


Dear Colleagues, Authors, and Readers,

Studies in Communication Sciences (SComS) is delighted to announce the appointment of Sina Blassning as a new member of the Editorial Team. We are looking forward to working together with her. We also want to thank Silke Fürst for her long-standing commitment to SComS.

Sina Blassnig is a full professor of digital communication and datafication at the Department of Communication and Media Research (DCM) at the University of Fribourg. She is also the Director of the Institute for Digital Communication and Media Innovation (IDCMI) in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons (FHGR). Her research interests lie in digital communication, digital journalism and media innovation, political communication, media use, and media systems in a comparative perspective. In her current research, Sina Blassnig focuses on the use of new technologies and artificial intelligence in the production and distribution of media content and how this affects the audience's role and citizens' usage behavior. She also researches how political actors use digital platforms. Her research emphasizes an international comparative perspective and the integration of supply and demand perspectives in communication science. 

We also want to commit our gratitude to Silke Fürst. Silke served as Journal Manager from 2020 to 2021 and as Co-Editor from 2021 to 2024. She made a significant contribution to the professionalization of SComS. Her scientific expertise, ability to work in a team, and eye for detail without losing sight of the big picture have been invaluable to us. We will greatly miss her.
