Issue 24/1 published

Dear Colleagues, Authors, and Readers,

The first issue of SComS in 2024 is published now and it is dedicated to the Thematic Section on “Images, clusters and types – Making sense of (large) image corpora and related practices in and with digital media,” with seven original contributions. The General Section is composed of one study reflecting on how Austrian newspapers portrayed the initial outbreak of COVID-19 in March 2020. Furthermore, the issue contains a discussion of an innovative tool leveraging GPT-3 technology for journalists as well as a book review.

The majority of the research articles was already published in our Online First Section. If you would like to be regularly informed about new publications in SComS, we invite you to follow us on X.

We would like to thank the guest editors, Wolfgang Reißmann, Ulla Autenrieth, and Rebecca Venema, and all authors for their contributions to this issue as well as the reviewers who provided invaluable feedback. A further big thank-you goes to our two partners, the open access team from the University Library Zurich (UB), especially Margit Dellatorre and Martin Brändle, as well as Christine Hirzel, Katarzyna Czerwiec-Buczek, and Peter Rusterholz from Seismo Press. We are also very grateful for the support of the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAGW).

We hope that you will enjoy reading this issue.
