Dear Colleagues, Authors and Readers,

Studies in Communication Sciences (SComS) is very pleased to announce the appointments of Jolanta Drzewiecka as a new member of the Editorial Board and of Silke Fürst as a member ad interim. We are looking forward to working together with both.

She is Academic Director of the European Master of Intercultural Communication. Her main research interests include discursive constructions of cultural, racial, and national differences and identities, especially regarding migrant discourses and public memories. Jolanta Drzewiecka already engaged with SComS in her role as guest editor of the Thematic Section on “Critical Perspectives on Migration in Discourse and Communication” which will be published in 2021.

Silke Fürst is research assistant at the Department of Communication and Media Research (IKMZ) at the University of Zurich. Her research interests include science communication and higher education research, journalism, discourses about media audiences, media ethics, and media history. Silke Fürst served SComS as Journal Manager in 2020. Furthermore, she is the co-speaker of the SACM journalism division, member of the SACM ethics committee, and board member of the association “Öffentliche Medien- und Kommunikationswissenschaft”.

We deeply thank Sara Greco and Thomas Häussler who served the Editorial Board since 2015 / 2016 for their commitment to SComS. Their engagement has contributed to SComS becoming a well-established open access journal within communication and media research.
